On November 28, the inauguration ceremony for the Hong Kong International Airport's Three-Runway System was held in Hong Kong. Attendees included Hong Kong Chief Executive John Lee, Director of the Central Government's Liaison Office in Hong Kong Zheng Yanxiong, Vice Minister of Transport Xu Chengguang, Deputy Administrator of the Civil Aviation Administration of China Liang Nan, Deputy Commissioner of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Hong Kong Fang Jianming, Chairman of the Hong Kong Legislative Council Andrew Leung, and Chairman of the Airport Authority Hong Kong Lin Tianfu. Yan Jian Guo, Chairman of China Overseas, and representatives from China State Construction International were also invited to the event.

The Hong Kong International Airport Three-Runway System project includes the North Runway reconstruction (now referred to as the "Middle Runway"), which is one of the main components of the three-runway project managed by the Airport Authority Hong Kong. The project was contracted to China State Construction International, a subsidiary of China Overseas. Construction began in June 2021, with runway renovation work starting in July 2022. The runway calibration work was successfully completed on August 5 of this year, and it was officially inaugurated on November 28, marking the entry of Hong Kong International Airport into the "Three-Runway System Era."

The North Runway reconstruction project marks China Overseas' first direct involvement in the construction of a main runway at Hong Kong International Airport, achieving a significant milestone for the company in large-scale airport runway construction. The project is substantial and complex, encompassing various engineering tasks, including the closure of the Middle Runway, runway refurbishment, aircraft taxiway paving, extensive land reclamation and site leveling, and the construction of vehicle tunnels.

Faced with challenges such as multiple construction interfaces and complex surrounding environments and geological conditions, the project team insisted on a technology-driven approach. By utilizing BIM visualization technology, they significantly improved construction efficiency and accuracy. A "Youth Assault Team" was formed to engage directly in the field, ensuring the timely completion of the "runway calibration" milestone and the on-schedule issuance of the airport license for smooth project delivery.

The official launch of the Hong Kong International Airport's Three-Runway System is a key step in realizing the long-term vision of transforming from a "city airport" to an "airport city." This development will further solidify Hong Kong's position as an international aviation hub, injecting new vitality into regional economic development and opening up to the outside world.

Having been rooted in Hong Kong for 45 years, China Overseas has always regarded Hong Kong as home, cherishing its connection with the city and sharing in its growth. Moving forward, China Overseas will continue to fulfill its corporate social responsibility, striving to contribute significantly to Hong Kong's economic development and social progress, thereby supporting the stable and enduring practice of "One Country, Two Systems."
